### SOMEONE AT VOLKSWAGEN CLEARLY HAD TOO MUCH COFFEE.
The brief was probably quite simple, build a comfortable, practical family SUV. Give it a decent boot, five seats and enough technology to make the school run a little more bearable.
Job done.
Except someone in the performance department clearly wasn't paying attention, they borrowed the engine from the Golf R, added 235kW, a sophisticated all-wheel-drive system and enough acceleration to make the family dog reconsider its enthusiasm for car journeys, and just like that, the Tiguan R was born.
This 2022 example looks fantastic in white, contrasted by black alloy wheels and those signature blue R brake calipers.
It's understated enough to blend into the school car park, yet perfectly capable of leaving it with considerably more enthusiasm than necessary, and that's what makes the Tiguan R such a clever thing.
### WHY THIS CAR?
Let's address the obvious, at 100,000km, this Tiguan has travelled a little further than some similarly aged examples.
But kilometres only tell part of the story.
What matters enormously to us is how a car has been looked after, and this one comes with a complete Volkswagen service history and the added reassurance of Volkswagen warranty coverage until 2027.
That's a rather compelling combination when you're considering a performance vehicle, add 235kW, all-wheel drive and the practicality of a family SUV, and you've got a lot of car for $36,888.
### CONDITION
A smartly presented Tiguan R, finished in white with contrasting black alloy wheels and blue R brake calipers.
The vehicle has covered 100,882km and benefits from a full Volkswagen service history.
We're happy to discuss its condition openly, including any signs of use, and provide a detailed video walkaround for interstate buyers.
### PARABOLICA VERDICT
Here's what we like about the Tiguan R. It doesn't require you to make excuses, you don't have to explain why you've bought something impractical, uncomfortable or completely unsuitable for everyday life. It's a perfectly capable family SUV.
**A Golf R with room for the dog. What's not to like?**
